Beginner’s Guide to Korean Skincare

What is so special about Korean Skincare?

The ethos behind Korean Skincare is to focus on prevention and the root cause of skin problems rather than covering them up with make-up. To achieve this, Korean skincare uses lots of natural ingredients that are beneficial for the skin - with the focus being on hydration, the key component to flawless skin. Hydration plumps up your skin, minimizes oil production and gives it that healthy glow. Hydrated skin is also more permeable, allowing it to better absorb active ingredients in products that you use – boosting the performance of every product you apply.

There is a lot of money invested in Korean skincare, whereby the government has even subsidised the industry! This is why there is so much competition, giving the rise to incredibly innovative formulas whilst making Korean skincare more affordable.

Due to the obsession with skincare, the widely popular 10-step skincare routine was born.

We know this looks overwhelming - 10 products is a lot to get started! This is why we do not recommend anyone to start off with this if your current routine is a lot simpler. As with anything, going from 0 to 100 doesn’t do you good but may cause damage instead.

So what is the challenge when you’re starting out? Too. Much. Choice.

Don't worry though, we got you covered!

    What is my first step?

Because there is so much choice and products that are targeting different skin types and concerns, you want to make sure you are buying the right product for your skin type, and not just what is popular or raved about.

Click here to start identifying your skin type.

And then take baby steps from there…

Start slow and be patient. If you suddenly add a bunch of extra products on your skin than it is normally used , your skin may break out – and you won’t know which product is causing it.

Your new skincare regime will take a while before you see effects. Have a consistent routine!

      Let us help you.

To make life easier for you, we have assessed the extensive 10-step routine and stripped it back to 3 core fundamental steps for beginners.cleanse serum moisturise

      1. Cleanser

This is incorporated in most people’s daily routine anyway, and a good cleanser should 1) remove dirt from your face 2) not strip your skin of its natural oils.

      2. Serum

Penetrates nutrients deep into the skin - made of very small molecules that is easy for the skin to absorb.

      3. Moisturiser

Moisturising is a must, no matter how acne prone or oily your skin is. The trick is to find the right moisturiser for your skin type. Moisturisers help regulate oil production, locks in moisture into your skin, acts as a barrier and nourishes your skin.
